Your employment

This tool calculates your annual leave, public holidays and time limits for this situation. Other amounts follow rules it does not cover.

The day your employment actually ended, even if you were paid in lieu of notice.

Notice

The date on the letter or email, if it is earlier than the day you received it.

Leave it empty if your employment ended without notice.

Leave it empty if your contract says nothing or you do not know.

For statutory redundancy

On your payslip. Most employees are Class A.

Used only to count your service from your 16th birthday. Never printed.

Absences in the last 3 years (lay-off, strike, long illness)

Only these absences reduce your service. Maternity, paternity, parental or carer’s leave and other authorised absences count as service: no need to enter them.

Your pay
Does your pay change from week to week (hours or commission)?

Before tax, for your normal hours, with regular bonuses, without overtime.

Without overtime.

Without overtime. Used for redundancy.

Regular overtime counts for redundancy.
Your working time
Your usual working days (needed if you do not work Monday to Friday)
Are your hours the same every week?

Sick days with a medical certificate count as worked: do not enter them.

Annual leave

The Irish leave year starts on 1 April. 0 if none.

Leave you could not take because you were sick can be carried over for up to 15 months.

This tool does not calculate contract entitlements: enter yours if it is higher.

Public holidays
Did you work during the 4 weeks before you left?

Needed if you entered a number above: the WRC time limit may run from that day.

What you received

Copy the gross amounts from your final payslip. Leave a line empty if nothing was paid for it.

Have you received your final payslip?

Statutory or more.

Wages not paid, or paid in part (optional)

The tool does not calculate your normal wages: enter what was due and what you were paid, for each pay period.

For example: week ending 23 October 2026

Calculated in your browser: nothing you type is sent.

What you should receive when your job ends in Ireland

Depending on how your employment ended: your wages up to your last day; minimum notice or pay in lieu (Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act 1973); pay for annual leave not taken and, sometimes, a public holiday (Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, s. 23); and statutory redundancy if your job was made redundant after 104 weeks (Redundancy Payments Act 1967). These amounts are gross.

How the check works

Each line is compared with the amount calculated from your answers, with a tolerance of €1.00. The total missing adds up the lines with nothing received or part missing. The details are in the redundancy, notice and annual leave calculators.

Your time limits

A written claim for statutory redundancy must reach your employer within 52 weeks of the end of your employment (RPA s. 24(1)). A complaint to the WRC about notice, annual leave, public holidays or wages must be made within 6 months of the breach (Workplace Relations Act 2015, s. 41(6)), or 12 months with a “reasonable cause”. Writing to your employer does not stop these time limits.

Example

Redundancy after 7.62 years, €850 a week, last day 23 October 2026; the final payslip shows €800 of holiday pay and nothing else: annual leave €350.90 short, public holiday €170.00 not paid, statutory redundancy €9,744.00 not paid. WRC time limit: 22 April 2027 (suggested date 12 April 2027).
