Your last day to contact Acas for early conciliation, with a suggested date that keeps a safety margin, and your new time limit once you have your Acas dates.

Your situation
Where did you work?

Bank holidays and some time limits depend on it. Northern Ireland has its own rules: this site does not cover it yet.

What is your claim about? (one or more)

The effective date of termination.

For unpaid wages and holiday pay, the time limit runs from this date.

Early conciliation, if it has started (optional)

Time limits: 3 or 6 months, and Acas

For events from 1 October 2026, most claims have a time limit of 6 months (3 months before). The date is worked out the way Acas does: add the months, then take off 1 day. For notice pay in Scotland, 6 months applies only to employment ending from 9 November 2026. A written claim for statutory redundancy pay must reach your employer within 6 months of your last day.

You must contact Acas for early conciliation before you can make most tribunal claims. If you contact Acas in time, the days between Day A and Day B are added, and you always have at least one month after Day B.

Example

Unfair dismissal, employment ended on 15 October 2026: contact Acas by 14 April 2027 (suggested: 7 April 2027). With Acas contacted on 10 January 2027 and the certificate received on 20 February 2027, the time limit becomes 25 May 2027; submit online by 18 May 2027.
